My Story

I am driven to live a life that is full of purpose. I have goals of becoming an environmental consultant once I have built a solid base of experience. I want to help companies and local businesses in their journey to sustainability. Creating sustainability plans and progressing companies towards becoming environmentally friendly, not in the greenwashing sort of way but the true to what they say way.  For as long as I can remember the environment has captivated me and its degradation has made me realize that changes must be made, and we are the ones to do it! A pivotal moment in my life happened when I shifted my way of thinking away from environmentalism and towards sustainability. It's not about what we cannot do, but about what we can do to make a lasting impact and preserve our world for generations to come.

I am currently pursuing a career in online community management, copywriting, or content creation. When I was managing social media accounts my favorite aspect was building community and dialogue with customers/consumers, making everyone feel seen and heard and answering any questions that anyone had because no question is ever a dumb one.

I have always known my written skills are stronger than my verbal skills, I am a writer not a talker. Sometimes I am led to believe this is because I grew up alongside technology and within the texting era. My written words are smoother and come more naturally than when I am speaking. This coincides with my learning style (visual-kinesthetic), I learn by seeing and doing, which is why I would love to continue creating content. It taps into my creativity, detail-oriented mind, and the empathetic person I am. I want to create content that is digestible for all learning styles, something that many school systems have failed to provide their students with and therefore have failed them. I want to make a difference within companies, for employees, and customers with the content I can create.

In the past I have been described as a creative and scientific person which I think is the best of both worlds. Copywriting is a career that intrigues and inspires me in seeing the right from wrong, the creative geniuses behind each word selected, and the perfectly in-tune brand voices they can create and mimic. I’m driven in everything I do, and I am waiting for the chance to be able to show others the quality of work I can create.

My path has not been a straight shooter. I wanted to be a Marine Biologist, study the ocean, have a direct impact in saving the one thing that makes human life possible, but no one ever tells you if you are not mathematically inclined you won't be able to study the science you want to dedicate your life to. I took what I thought at the time was the second-best path and dedicated myself to environmental and sustainable studies. Who would have known that that is my true passion and purpose in life?  From there, I was able to land an internship with the Office of Sustainability the summer after I worked on the Starbucks Sustainability and FoodShare teams. I was hired to run the social media channels for the office and ended up creating a few blog posts out of my passion for writing and communicating what truly is happening within global warming and animal agriculture. I often forget that my knowledge on this topic surpasses others. One example of this is bycatch, out of my whole environmental communication class in my senior year, I was the only one who knew what this word meant and although that did crush me a little inside, I knew my purpose was to educate others, not gawk at the lack of knowledge in this niche passion of mine. From my internship at the office of sustainability I was able to land a social media management position with a local restaurant called Beech. From this position, I learned how to create and maintain a brand voice, build community, and grow a following through my digital marketing and imagery skills.

As the pandemic developed and created disruptions in many companies, many lost their jobs- including myself as the restaurant industry was unproportionally rocked. I graduated and moved to Colorado and began the toughest search of my life, finding my first job post college. I lost my job because of the pandemic, but I also found one that I have learned from, grown from, and helped support my community. Landing a job that allowed me to expand on the work I have a passion and purpose for, I joined COVIDCheck Colorado in December of 2020 to help Coloradans get tested and stay safe. I answered phone calls, emails, and trained new agents as we continued to grow with testing and later, vaccinations. My verbal communication skills have grown tremendously and my passion for helping others came to life. I wouldn't trade my customer service experience for anything because I was helping others feel seen and heard in a lonely and isolated time. I have always put others before myself, I am a team player, and I can proudly say that I am looking for a job because the pandemic is nearly over, and I played a role in that fact.

I am just getting started and I cannot wait to unearth new paths, purposes, and passions.  Learning is ever evolving, and I hope I get the opportunity to grow and create successes alongside you. I hope you enjoy a few samples of my work on the following pages and would love to connect if you would like to see more.
